WHAT IS BIOMASS?
Anything that grows, or once grew, is biomass.
Examples of biomass include organic matter like grasses, leaves, manure, sawdust, straw, hops, etc.
Also waste products such as grain fines, corn stover, beet pulp, manure, paper, coffee grounds, worm castings, nut shells, rice husks, cotton husks, etc...
All these materials and more can be densified into pellets.
WHY PELLETIZE?
Densifying biomass into pellets can generate new revenues for farmers and entrepreneurs.
Pelletizing animal waste reduces runoff and creates a marketable product.
Waste products can be processed into usable, saleable pellets for fuel and fertilizer.
Homeowners can create their own pellets for fuel to heat their homes.
Pellet products: Pellets for alternative heating fuel, animal bedding, animal feed, organic fertilizer.
WHAT CREATES A PELLET?
Pellet mills use pressure to densify material into pellets. Temperature, moisture and material size all play a role in creating a pellet. Hardness varies by the end use: fuel pellets should be dense and hard, animal feed pellets such as alfalfa or beet pulp would be less dense. Material is pressed through a die that forms the pellet shape.
PELLET MILL TYPES
Pellet mills are available in single phase, 3 phase, diesel, gas, and PTO drive styles. Die sizes range from 5 inch to 16 inch and larger. Capacities range from 40 lbs/hour to 1 ton/hour and higher.
Styles include:
Horsepower ranges from 3 HP to 30 HP sizes.
- rotating carriage
- rotating die
- ring die
We carry all these types of mills and generally have all IN STOCK here in the US and ready to ship. Larger sizes can be ordered. We carry parts for all our mills.
